What We Are Doing Tonight!

HELLOOOOOO FRIENDS! We are having a good night… Staying busy that is for sure. I do apologize for not blogging regularly. High school/homeschool is taking up most of my time. πŸ™‚ Tonight we are juicing, doing homework, and OF course, blogging!! We are making our usual Carrot/Beet/Celery juice. Baby Buttersnaps couldn’t be more delighted about this! πŸ™‚

Courageous Carrot and her mighty juice!

Courageous Carrot and her mighty juice!

The Norwalk doing its job… We have decided that we need Hazmat suits to deal with the carrot backsplash. THEY FLY EVERYWHERE! It is ridiculous.

Hungry Henry is working on homework and is patiently awaiting the arrival of dinner.

My little blogging corner…

I have set up shop in my little corner of the kitchen with my tea and the most amazing gluten free crackers in the ENTIRE world… I don’t even think they are crackers, they are so good. They are called Absolutely Gluten Free Flatbread Crackers, the original kind. You should seriously go buy some! Anyway… About the whole hazmat suit thing, I think it would be a good investment for us. This whole flying carrot thing is getting really out of hand. What are we doing wrong?!?!?! Well… It brings a lot of laughs so I guess that is a good thing.

Also along with the juicing Mother Dear is trying to work on her slow process of adding in meat. In the beginning of the summer she began to experiment with adding in meat after a long bout of eating a vegan diet. She tanked and got really sick but we still don’t know exactly what it was that made it so bad because there were quite a lot of variables. Now that we can look back on the summer, we can see we were eating a lot of nightshade vegetables (like at almost every meal), she was experimenting with meat, and the toxicity of the methotrexate was definitely building up. It is hard to pin point, “Oh, it was the meat” because, like I said, there were a lot of variables. SO she is trying the meat again. We made some of the best meatballs ever! Hmm Mom just walked out to me and said that her hands are starting to swell. This is such a complicated process. Now we are trying to figure out if it is actually the meat or the salt, that we just read can be really bad for RA patients and cause inflammation. Food has a really interesting relationship with disease, both healing and hurting. This is proving to be both a challenge and yet crucial to the healing process. So to just explain the process, Rheumatoid Arthritis is where the immune system is basically out of control and is attacking itself. It is recognizing certain foods and parts of our body (such as joints and tissues) as foreign invaders and then it is attacking it, which causes swelling, can lead to erosion of joints etc. and effect the body systemically, including the organs. Basically our body is hurting itself. Mom has nodules in her lungs that are believed to be from the RA, which she was struggling to breath from in August. We were reassured that they aren’t cancerous as of right now but that could sadly change. The other complicated piece of the puzzle is that Courageous Carrot carries a high risk cancer gene for breast cancer, colon cancer, renal cancer, thyroid cancer and lymphoma. It is such a confusing disease. There is a lot more to it as well but that is basically how I understand it. Anyway… If you are just looking for a good meatball recipe I will post the recipe. Probably not tonight but stay tuned. (I will work on it tomorrow) πŸ™‚

Good Night to you all!
